Platform Release - June 2026

A roundup of the latest Geoplan platform updates: new Map Search and layer ordering, smarter import handling for null and blank values, a refreshed dropdown experience, and improvements to the point-to-point routing, info, and editor tools.

We've been busy. This release pulls together a host of updates that make everyday mapping faster, clearer, and more intuitive — from a smarter Map Search to simpler layer control, tidier data handling, and a fresh round of polish across the platform. Here's what's new.

New features and functionality

Map Search

Search continues to provide the same reliable results you're used to, with no changes to how results are sourced or returned.

  • We've improved Search to make it quicker and easier to use.
  • Updated Search in the toolbar with a cleaner layout.
  • Selecting Search now drops an icon directly onto the map.
  • Relevant information is displayed alongside it on the map.

Benefits

  • Quickly see key information exactly where you need it.
  • Easily identify locations with the map icon.
  • Work more efficiently with a simpler, clearer interface.
  • Enjoy a smoother, more intuitive search experience.

Layer ordering

  • From within the editor panel, reorder layers within a theme using drag-and-drop.
  • Layer order changes are automatically reflected on the map.
  • Map presentation stays aligned with the configured layer hierarchy.

Benefits

  • Faster, more intuitive layer organisation.
  • Greater control over layer visibility and display.
  • Immediate visual feedback through updated map rendering.

Improvements and maintenance

Improved import handling for Null and Blank values

Import has been enhanced to fully support null and blank values.

  • The system analyses each data column during import and automatically determines the most appropriate data type—such as number, text, or date—based on the overall data pattern.
  • All null and blank values are retained, ensuring data is imported as expected.

Benefits

  • Improves data integrity, reduces the need for manual data preparation, and provides more reliable and consistent data typing across imported datasets.

Refreshed Dropdown experience

Dropdown controls across the platform have been redesigned with an updated, more consistent appearance to improve clarity and ease of use.

The refreshed design delivers a cleaner user experience, makes options easier to understand and select, and provides greater consistency throughout the platform.

Point-to-point routing tool

Improved user interface to make the tool more visual and easier to use.

Responsive info tool

The Info tool now adapts to different screen sizes and devices, displaying information appropriately for the available space. You can also expand the tool to view additional details.

Editor panel

The Editor panel can now be opened and closed using the icon in the panel corner, replacing the layer control button previously located at the bottom of the map.

Taken together, these updates make the platform a little quicker and a lot easier to work with. There's plenty more on the way — and we'd love to hear what you'd like to see next.
